Good Hope Baptist Church's Mission Statement

Our church theme is "New Life Ministry", II Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away and behold all things become new." For we know that in Christ Jesus we can have a new life.

We are not saved by works but after we have been saved there should be some kingdom building works. The Lord said unto Habakkuk in the 2nd chapter and verse 2 & 3. "And the Lord answered me and said, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon te tables, that he may run that readeth it." For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not a lie. Though it tarry wait for it because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

There are three principles that I would like for this church family to incorporate into its ministries. They are (1) Education, (2)Edification, and (3) Evangelism. I would like to see each ministry use these principles at all times.

TO EDUCATE

Education means instructing and training persons in the Christian church in areas of life. In light of the Christian Faith, Hosea 4:6 says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Proverbs 9:9 reads, "Give instructions to a wise man and he will be yet wiser. Teach a just man and he will increase in learning." Matthew 28:20 reads, "Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Amen.

TO EQUIP

Edification, building up, the up building of Christians in the Christian Church and thus the strengthening of their faith and devotion to God in Jesus Christ. Romans 15:2 reads, "Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification (building up)." 1st Corinthians 14:3, "But he that prohesieth speaketh unto men to edification, exhortation, and comfort." II Corinthians 10:8.

TO MAKE DISCIPLES

Evangelism means the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a variety of means. The great commission of the church is to go. Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost." Acts 1:8b, "And ye shall be witneeses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth." Our mission as a church family is that we reach as many as we can in as many ways as we can. I would like to see every member of the church involved in some ministry of the church.
